Our Mission
German School Columbus brings the German language and culture to life for learners of all ages. Whether you're just starting out or looking to strengthen your skills, our welcoming community offers engaging classes that make learning German fun and meaningful.
Classes are held Saturday mornings and Monday evenings during the school year at St. Mary's School in the heart of German Village.
Beyond the classroom, students, families, teachers, and community members come together throughout the year to celebrate German traditions with cultural events and potluck-style gatherings.
Our goal is to make German language learning accessible to everyone. Donations help us keep tuition affordable and continue growing a vibrant German cultural community in Columbus.

OUr History
Early in 2008, Austrian, Swiss, and German families in the Columbus, Ohio area came together with two common goals:
* To provide instruction in the German language
* To instill a knowledge of and appreciation for the culture and traditions of German-speaking people
Toward that end, a local chapter of D.A.N.K. (Deutsch Amerikanischer National Kongress: German American National Congress) was established, which provided organizational assistance for their dream: a German language 'immersion' school. It quickly became apparent that there was interest in the community, and our first classes were held in the fall of 2008.
In 2011, the American Center for German Culture, a non-profit organization, took us under their wing as the Ohio German Language School. We helped to support their mission to connect others to all things German and German-American, and we have been growing ever since.
In 2025, we rang in the new year with a new name. This year we are proud to share in ACGC's name and OGLS is now called ACGC German School Columbus (in German: ACGC Deutsche Schule Columbus)

Our Team
Our dedicated team at the German School Columbus consists of exceptional teachers, including licensed German educators and native speakers from German-speaking countries. Regardless of their background, all of our team members are native or near-native speakers who share a deep passion for teaching the language and culture.
